Emma Raducanu in action during a tennis match

Emma Raducanu reached the third round in three of the four Grand Slam events in the current campaign.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions this season as a result of the illness that has affected her over the past 10 days.

The 22-year-old had planned to participate in events in Asia but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate before starting next year's training.

Her upcoming training are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have agreed to work together in 2026.

She required blood pressure checks during her first-round match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

She was also playing noticeably restricted in the third set in the match with Zhu because of the lower back problem that has affected her at times this year.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.

The player achieved 28 victories during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

Ranked first in Britain reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She worked with Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

She mentioned that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
