The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed the defendant's actions to the court.

Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to consume candy "as fast as possible".

She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "for many years", and minors had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.

She explained the defendant had been able to explain this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had worries in recently.

The prosecutor added: "This year his stepson had concerns about the situation, with valid cause.

"They resolved" to investigate in the individual's items."

Mrs Prior KC stated items including infant oil, Vaseline and syringes were located, and his family member alerted the authorities about his concerns.

She said the man continued to play the "candy game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.

"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.

The prosecutor explained the children were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the family member contacted the authorities a second time.

She explained Ruben then engaged in the "sweet game" in a room of five children.
