Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Additional Developments

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
