Vehicles in German City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were alerted by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Roughly fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the fluid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.

A senior political figure stated the attack left him without words and required to be solved promptly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
